Prunedale, CA (August 13, 2024) A multi-vehicle chain-reaction collision occurred on Highway 101 in Prunedale on Monday morning, August 12th. Officers reported that the accident took place around 11:00 a.m. and involved four vehicles, including a semi-truck carrying blackberries and a work truck carrying pallets. Injuries were reported and the truck driver became trapped inside the cab, reports indicated.

A gray Honda sedan, a white work truck carrying pallets, a gray Volkswagen and a green semi-truck hauling blackberries were heading along Highway 101 in Prunedale on Monday morning. For reasons that remain unknown, the semi-truck suddenly hit a guardrail and street sign, setting off a huge and chaotic crash on the highway. The work truck slammed into the semi-truck, causing the pallets and blueberries to fall all over the roadway. This became a huge traffic hazard, causing vehicles to swerve to avoid the pallets and blueberries on the road. The gray Honda sedan and the gray Volkswagen crashed in an attempt to avoid hitting the debris in the roadway, reports indicated.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the roadway covered in pallets and blackberries. They found the four damaged vehicles along Highway 101 and began checking for occupants who may have been injured. Officers reported that the driver of the semi-truck was found trapped between the center divide and the truck. Officers worked to free the driver and he was taken to a local hospital, via ambulance. Other injuries might have occurred, but that information has not been disclosed at this time.
