Salinas, CA (November 5, 2024) Pedestrian Yuriana Lopez was tragically killed when a vehicle struck her this morning.
Details are sparse as the investigation is underway. Salinas police reported that the crash occurred on Airport Boulevard and Roy Diaz Street. The Monterey Country Sheriff’s office identified the 42-year-old Salinas resident.
The driver reportedly remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. DUI is not a factor.
The Salinas Police Department released a statement to encourage motorists and pedestrians alike to stay safe on the road.
“SPD would like to continue to remind drivers and pedestrians to be vigilant along their daily commutes. This is the 9th fatal accident this year and 3rd in a few week span,” they wrote on social media.
