Overview on the State Route 94 Collision

In pedestrian highway fatalities, investigators often examine several key traffic laws to determine what caused the incident. The Pedestrian Roadway Law prohibits pedestrians from walking on a roadway when an adjacent sidewalk is available. When sidewalks are absent, pedestrians must walk as close as practicable to the left-hand edge of the roadway, facing oncoming traffic.

However, the Duty to Exercise Due Care Law still requires drivers to operate vehicles with caution. They must take all reasonable steps to avoid hitting pedestrians.

The Basic Speed Law may also be considered, as it mandates that motorists travel at speeds safe for the conditions. This includes early morning darkness and rural roadway visibility, as in the State Route 94 collision.

Support for Pagan’s Family

The family of Guillermo Pagan should remain in contact with the California Highway Patrol Jamul Office for updates on the investigation and to request the official collision report once it becomes available. This report will contain vital details to help clarify what occurred and assist with any insurance or legal actions.

Loved ones may also be eligible for support through the California Victim Compensation Board. They help families cover funeral expenses, counseling, and other costs following a fatal crash.

Additionally, consulting with a wrongful-death attorney who handles pedestrian accidents can help the family understand their legal rights and potential options for recovery.

Finally, grief support services in San Diego County, such as the Trauma Intervention Program, can provide emotional and practical assistance as the family mourns the loss of Guillermo Pagan from the State Route 94 collision.
