Vallejo, CA (October 18, 2023) 76-year-old Russell Hawk, a resident of Vallejo, was fatally crushed between two cars on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. The Vallejo Police Department said the collision occurred around 2:30 p.m near Sonoma Boulevard and Carolina Street.
Bay area police officers were attempting to pull over a reckless driver, however, instead of stopping, the driver sped off at “a high rate of speed,” according to police officers. The suspect ran 2 stop signs and ended up crashing into a parked car on the 300 block of Carolina Street.

The Vallejo Police Department said the driver hit one car, which was pushed into the parked vehicle in front of it. Hawk was standing between the two parked cars and was crushed in the collision. He was rushed to a local hospital to receive treatment, but later died from his injuries.
Following the collision, the driver got out of the car and fled on foot, according to the Vallejo Police Department. Officers found a firearm in his vehicle and later found the suspect and arrested him, Officer Rashad Hollis, a spokesperson for the department said.
