Newport Beach, CA (July 17, 2024)
On the evening of Tuesday, July 16, a man was arrested on suspicion of a fatal hit-and-run collision with a pedestrian.
A little before 9:40 p.m., the 30-year-old Santa Ana man was driving a Toyota Camry in Newport Beach and struck a pedestrian at Jamboree Road and Sea Vista Drive. He then fled the scene.
Police managed to catch the suspect at Jamboree and Santa Barbara Drive. They detained and arrested him.
The victim of the crash, a 46-year-old man from Santa Ana named Roman Lizaola-Montano, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
