Bakersfield, CA (August 6, 2024) A fatal pedestrian accident occurred in Bakersfield on Monday morning, August 5th. The early morning accident took place at approximately 5:12 a.m. at the intersection of Quantico Avenue and East Brundage lane, according to reports. The pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck and died at the scene.
The sun had yet to rise over Bakersfield on Monday morning as a pedestrian walked south along East Brundage Lane. As they walked, a white pickup truck approached from the east. At approximately 5:12 a.m., the truck struck the pedestrian. The force knocked the victim to the ground, where they remained, motionless. The driver of the pickup truck stopped and called 911, according to reports.
The Bakersfield Police Department arrived at the scene and found the white pickup truck stopped near the victim. The pedestrian was on the ground, unresponsive. Officers hurried to the victim’s side and began life-saving measures. Unfortunately, there was nothing they could do. The pedestrian had already succumbed to injuries. With heavy hearts, they pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Officers began investigating the scene, which included questioning the driver of the pickup truck. Drugs, alcohol and speed do not seem to be factors in this deadly accident, officers reported.
