Santa Ana, CA (July 13, 2024) Tragedy spread through the community of Santa Ana on Saturday morning as people awoke to news of a pedestrian’s death the night before. The fatal accident took place on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Friday, July 12th. Officers reported that the pedestrian was possibly struck by more than one vehicle, near First Street.
A late night accident occurred on the southbound lanes of the Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Sana Ana on Friday, July 12th. A pedestrian was walking along the right shoulder of the southbound lanes when they were struck by an approaching vehicle, according to reports. Officers said the pedestrian could have been struck by more than one vehicle, but it is unclear at this time.

The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found the pedestrian, a man, wearing a plaid jacket and lying on the right shoulder of the freeway. They hurried to the man’s side, ready to begin life-saving treatment, but the man had already succumbed to his injuries. Sadly, officer pronounced him dead at the scene and called the coroner’s office. Reports indicated that a representative arrived at the scene around 12:20 a.m.
Officers are investigating this deadly accident and are working to determine what exactly occurred on that stretch of freeway in Santa Ana. They are working to determine if the victim was struck by more than one vehicle and to also figure out what type of vehicle was involved. They are determined to find the driver and bring him or her to justice following this fatal pedestrian collision.
