Los Angeles, CA (February 5, 2024) A pedestrian’s life was suddenly taken on Friday evening when they were struck by a vehicle that quickly fled the scene. The fatal hit-and-run accident occurred on Washington Place, shortly after 8:00 p.m. on January 2nd.
It was a dark, February evening, as a pedestrian attempted to cross the street near East Boulevard in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Police Department reported that the pedestrian began crossing in an unmarked crosswalk. As they crossed, a dark-colored SUV was heading east on Washington Place, driving towards them. Reports indicate that the driver stopped, briefly, after hitting the pedestrian, but then, hit the gas and fled the scene.

The pedestrian laid in the roadway, surrounded only by the evening darkness, with life-threatening injuries, authorities said. One police officer said the vehicle “continued driving without stopping to identify themselves or render aid as required by law.”
The Culver City Fire Department sent paramedics to the scene who found the pedestrian, alone and unresponsive. Sadly, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel and a coroner was called.
The Los Angeles Police Department West Traffic Division has detectives on this case! They have asked that anyone with information regarding this horrible accident contact the police.
