Oakland, CA (August 28, 2023) A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a vehicle on Interstate 580 in Oakland on Sunday night. The California Highway Patrol said that accident occurred on or near the Harrison Street off-ramp on westbound I-580.

The collision happened around 11:30 p.m, according to the California Highway Patrol. A driver involved in hitting the pedestrian remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The California Highway Patrol has reported that other drivers have contacted them, saying they may have also been involved.
All traffic was stopped for quite a while as investigators checked the scene to try and figure out what exactly happened.
