San Juan Capistrano, CA (October 8, 2023) A 19-year-old pedestrian was killed on Saturday when he was struck by a vehicle on the San Diego (5) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol. The accident was reported around 7:42 p.m. on the southbound 5 Freeway in San Juan Capistrano.

The collision occurred just south of Camino Capistrano when a white Nissan pickup and a gold Toyota sedan collided. Witnesses said the two vehicles were stopped on the right shoulder of the freeway.
Authorities are still uncertain if the man was walking on the freeway or if he was in one of the vehicles and got out. This accident is still under investigation.
