Las Vegas, Nevada (January 10, 2024) A fatal hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian occurred on Tropicana Avenue in Las Vegas on Tuesday evening, January 9th. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officers reported to the call right around 5:30 p.m., just east of Sandhill Road.
According to reports, a 42-year-old male pedestrian tried to cross the street and was struck by a Toyota Corolla. The pedestrian was not within a designated crosswalk as he crossed Tropicana Avenue, authorities said. However, the driver of the Toyota, 62-year-old Israel Claros, fled the scene.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene to find the pedestrian lying in the roadway with life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to Sunrise Hospital where he, sadly, succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to reports.
Police officers found the Toyota Corolla in the southeast valley, authorities said. They identified Claros as the driver and took him into custody at his home.
