Winchester, CA (August 16, 2023) A man from Pasadena was killed on Wednesday when he was struck by a freightliner tractor. California Highway Patrol said the accident occurred on State Route 74 in Winchester around 2:25 a.m.

According to investigators, a 59-year-old Hemet man was driving a white 2019 freightliner tractor and towing a trailer eastbound on Highway 74. At the same time, a 34-year-old pedestrian was walking on Highway 74, west of Amada Avenue.
The tractor struck the pedestrian, causing him to be thrown. He landed on the southeast shoulder of the road. He was rushed to Loma Linda University Medical Center via ambulance, according to authorities. The pedestrian later died at the hospital from his injuries.
