Fullerton, CA (November 18, 2023) A pedestrian lost his life on Friday evening, November 17th, after he was struck by a truck in Fullerton, according to the Fullerton Police Department. The fatal accident occurred shortly after 7:00 p.m. in the area of South Brookhurst Road and West Southgate Avenue, Sgt. Ryan O’Neil said.
A 78-year-old man from Whittier was driving a black Dodge 3500 truck south on Brookhurst Road when a pedestrian began crossing the street from the west. Reports indicate that the pedestrian stepped right in front of the pickup truck and the truck was unable to stop in time. The Dodge pickup hit the pedestrian, according to Sgt. O’Neil.

Officers from the Fullerton Police Department arrived at the scene to find a man lying in the middle of the street. Officers began life saving measures until the paramedics from the Fullerton Fire Department arrived. Paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene and called the medical examiner.
The driver of the pickup remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities following the collision. Officers do not believe that alcohol or drugs were a factor in this accident. Officers are investigating this collision to try and determine why the pedestrian stepped in front of the Dodge pickup on Brookhurst Road in Fullerton on Friday evening, November 17th.
