(Pacific Palisades, CA) A man was killed in a hit-and-run in a Palisades Circle crash in Pacific Palisades, with authorities releasing the victim’s identity this week.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded at approximately 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, to the 17100 block of Palisades Circle. Officers found the victim, identified as Agustine de la Cruz Misa, 33, of La Mirada. He was pronounced dead at the scene in a nearby driveway. The victim sustained fatal injuries from the collision. Paramedics arrived to assess the victim but could not render assistance. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene without stopping. No immediate aid was provided to the injured man.

The Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office confirmed the victim died at the location. Detectives began an investigation into the hit-and-run incident. Police did not immediately release a description of the suspect vehicle. Information about the driver remained unavailable during early investigation. Witnesses were asked to provide any information about the fleeing vehicle. The investigation continued as officers canvassed the neighborhood. Detectives worked to identify the hit-and-run driver through evidence collection.

Overview of the Palisades Circle Crash

When a hit-and-run fatality occurs, police examine traffic laws to identify the responsible driver. They work to understand the circumstances. These reviews focus on driver responsibility and legal duties after collisions.

Officers examine the Hit-and-Run Law. This law requires drivers involved in fatal collisions to stop immediately. They must provide identifying information and render reasonable aid. Fleeing the scene of a fatal crash is a serious felony offense. The crime carries substantial criminal penalties and prison time upon conviction.

Authorities may also review the Basic Speed Law. This law requires drivers to travel at safe speeds for conditions. Speed must be appropriate for residential roadways. Excessive speed on neighborhood streets increases collision severity. Fatal injuries suggest significant impact force from the vehicle.

Police may examine the Duty of Care to Pedestrians Law. This law requires drivers to exercise care and watch for people. Drivers must attempt to avoid striking pedestrians. This applies in all locations including driveways and residential areas. These laws help explain what caused the Palisades Circle crash.
