(Bakersfield, CA) A woman died in a Mount Vernon Avenue hit and run involving a pickup truck in Bakersfield.
On Sunday, August 3, at about 1:45 a.m., the Mount Vernon Avenue hit and run occurred. According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian crash happened on Mount Vernon Avenue and Oregon Street.
When CHP officers investigated, they learned a white pickup truck drove southbound on Mount Vernon Avenue. As it approached Oregon Street, a woman stood on the roadway. The pickup truck driver struck the woman at an unknown speed, fleeing the scene before authorities arrived.
By the time officers made it to the Mount Vernon Avenue hit and run crash site, they pronounced the woman dead. Investigators said it’s currently unknown if impaired driving played a role in the collision.
