Overview on the Mission Gorge Road Accident

In pedestrian fatality cases, investigators review several key traffic safety laws to determine contributing factors. The Pedestrian Roadway Law prohibits pedestrians from crossing the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk between adjacent intersections, requiring them to yield to vehicles.

However, the Duty to Exercise Due Care Law requires drivers to operate their vehicles with caution and use every reasonable means to avoid striking pedestrians, even when the pedestrian is crossing illegally.

Finally, the Basic Speed Law mandates that motorists drive at a speed that is safe for current conditions. These laws help investigators determine how the Mission Gorge Road accident occurred and whether it could have been prevented.
