Livermore, CA (August 2, 2023) A man was killed Wednesday morning on Interstate 580, according to the California Highway Patrol. The pedestrian’s vehicle had died and he was standing outside the vehicle when a truck hit the disabled vehicle. The force of the collision caused the vehicle to hit the man, killing him.

The CHP said the man who was killed was driving a car in the far right lane of the freeway near Greenville Road when the vehicle died. It wasn’t known, at first, whether or not the vehicle had died because of a minor-solo collision.
The driver got out of the vehicle, perhaps to investigate the situation, when his vehicle was hit by a big rig. This pushed the vehicle into the pedestrian and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
