(Fullerton, CA) A woman was killed Monday night, November 16, in a Magnolia Avenue collision after being struck by two vehicles while crossing a busy intersection.

According to the Fullerton Police Department, the crash occurred around 9 p.m. at Magnolia and Orangethorpe avenues. Investigators said the woman walked north from the southeast corner of the intersection against a red light. As she crossed, a Nissan Altima struck her in the middle of the street. Moments later, a Mercedes GL550 traveling nearby also struck her.

When paramedics arrived, they transported the woman to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her name has not yet been released pending notification of relatives.

Police said neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have been factors in the crash. Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Fullerton police at 714-738-6815 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.

Overview on the Magnolia Avenue Collision

When a pedestrian crosses against a signal, investigators review the Pedestrian Signal Law. This law prohibits pedestrians from entering an intersection when a red or “don’t walk” signal is displayed. However, it also reinforces that drivers must remain vigilant and use every reasonable means to avoid a collision.

The Duty to Exercise Due Care Law requires drivers to operate their vehicles with caution and yield when possible to prevent injury to pedestrians, even when the pedestrian is not lawfully crossing.

Finally, the Basic Speed Law mandates that motorists travel at speeds safe for existing conditions, such as visibility and pedestrian traffic. Investigators will consider these statutes as they determine contributing factors in the Magnolia Avenue collision.

    Support for the Family

You should stay in touch with the Fullerton Police Department’s Traffic Bureau to receive updates and request a copy of the official collision report once it is available. This report will help your family understand what occurred and support any insurance or legal steps that follow.

Consider reaching out to a wrongful-death attorney who can help explain your rights and provide guidance through both the investigative and civil processes.

Finally, take time to lean on loved ones and community resources. Local grief counseling and support groups in Orange County can help your family process the loss and find emotional strength during this difficult time.

If you have any concerns about navigating the legal process surrounding this incident, call 866-883-4318 to speak with a lawyer.
