Lancaster, CA (July 27, 2024) Tragedy struck the community of Lancaster on Friday night, July 26th. A female pedestrian was struck while crossing the street at 8:09 p.m., officers reported. Sadly, the pedestrian did not survive. It all happened at the intersection of Avenue J and Elm Avenue.
Detective Jorge Diaz told City News Service that the female pedestrian was crossing, north to south, on Avenue J in Lancaster, when she was hit. Just after 8:00 p.m., a Ford Flex SUV was heading east on Avenue J and as he approached the intersection of Elm Avenue, the vehicle struck the pedestrian. The force sent her flying several feet before landing on the ground, reports indicated. She had sustained life-threatening injuries in the collision. The driver of the Ford pulled over and called 911.
Lancaster Sheriff’s Station Deputies hurried to the scene and found the victim on the ground in critical condition. Paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived and transported the victim to Antelope Valley Hospital to receive emergency care for her injuries. The staff did everything they could, but the victim’s injuries were too severe and she succumbed to them. She was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Officers with the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station Traffic Investigation Team are leading this investigation, according to reports. Officers are working to understand what caused this fatal pedestrian accident at a Lancaster intersection on Friday night. Det. Diaz said they are trying to figure out if speed was a factor in this accident.
