The woman was walking north on Wakefield Avenue when she was hit by a lowered, black pickup truck, according to reports. The truck had been heading west on Roscoe Boulevard at the time of the collision. Initial reports stated that the woman had been crossing the street but she wasn’t in a designated crosswalk.
The pedestrian, identified as a 60-year-old woman was thrown from the force of the collision. Reports indicate that the woman landed hard on the ground on Roscoe Boulevard, where she remained with life-threatening injuries.
The pickup didn’t stop to offer aid or to call 911. Instead, it headed west on Roscoe Boulevard before turning north onto Lennox Avenue. Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the woman in bad condition, still lying in the road. They loaded her into an ambulance and rushed her to a local hospital to receive treatment. Sadly, the woman was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
