(Mecca, CA) A pedestrian was struck and killed Friday evening, October 10, in a Grapefruit Boulevard hit-and-run. Authorities search for the driver who fled the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash was reported around 6:30 p.m. near the 66th Avenue Bypass in Mecca. A witness told officers they found the victim lying on the right-hand shoulder of Grapefruit Boulevard after being hit by an SUV.
Personnel from the Riverside County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. CHP has not yet released information about the suspect or vehicle involved and is asking anyone with knowledge of the crash to come forward.
