(Los Angeles, CA) A pedestrian was hospitalized Monday night, November 10, after being struck by a vehicle in a Gage Avenue collision in the Vermont-Knolls neighborhood, authorities said.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded around 8:24 p.m. to reports of a pedestrian hit by a car at the intersection of Gage and Vermont avenues, just west of the Harbor (110) Freeway.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics treated the victim at the scene before transporting them to a local hospital, where doctors listed them in serious condition. Police said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no arrests or citations had been reported as of Tuesday morning.

Overview on the Gage Avenue Collision

In incidents where a pedestrian is struck in an intersection, police examine the Pedestrian Right-of-Way Law. This law requires drivers to yield to pedestrians crossing within marked or unmarked crosswalks and to exercise due care to ensure their safety. Investigators will determine whether visibility, distraction, or failure to yield contributed to the collision.

If excessive speed was a factor, the Basic Speed Law may also apply. It requires drivers to travel at speeds reasonable and safe for conditions, especially at night or near busy intersections.

Additionally, the Duty of Care Law extends to both drivers and pedestrians, requiring each to remain alert and take precautions to avoid accidents. These statutes will guide LAPD traffic investigators as they review the details of the Gage Avenue collision.

    Support for the Family

You should remain in close contact with the Los Angeles Police Department for updates on your loved one’s condition and the progress of the investigation. Requesting the official collision report once it’s available can also help clarify what happened.

When you feel ready, consider speaking with an attorney experienced in pedestrian injury cases. They can explain your rights and help you navigate the recovery and legal process if police determine negligence.

Finally, take care of your emotional well-being. Lean on family, friends, and local support networks as you focus on healing and recovery following this serious crash.

If you have any concerns about navigating the legal process surrounding this incident, call 866-883-4318 to speak with a lawyer.
