(Long Beach, CA) A 60-year-old woman was struck and killed Thursday morning, December 11, in an East Anaheim Street collision.

Officers responded around 6:20 a.m. to East Anaheim Street and Rose Avenue. They found the woman in the roadway and attempted lifesaving measures. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported her to a hospital, but she later died. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified her as Seila Tes.

Preliminary findings indicate a 2022 Honda Accord traveled west on East Anaheim Street. AT some point, it struck Tes as she crossed the roadway in an unmarked crosswalk. Police say speed, impairment, and distracted driving do not appear to be contributing factors. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.

Review on the East Anaheim Street Collision

When a pedestrian crosses an unmarked crosswalk, investigators often review the Right-of-Way for Pedestrians Law. This statute requires drivers to exercise due care for pedestrians, even in areas without marked lines, while also requiring pedestrians to act safely. In this case, officers will evaluate roadway lighting, traffic flow, and whether the driver had adequate opportunity to avoid the collision.

Because nighttime or early-morning visibility can affect driver reaction time, analysts may also consider the Basic Speed Law. This rule mandates driving at speeds that are reasonable for conditions. Even when impairment is not suspected, investigators assess whether safe speed was maintained leading up to the East Anaheim Street collision.

Investigators may further reference the Pedestrian Roadway Safety Law. This law outlines responsibilities when pedestrians cross outside marked crosswalks, helping determine how both the driver and pedestrian were using the roadway at the time of the East Anaheim Street collision.

    Support for Tes’ Family

If your loved one was Seila Tes, you should request the full LBPD collision report once it becomes available. It can help clarify the circumstances and support any insurance or legal steps.

You may also want to speak with a wrongful death attorney who can explain your options regarding funeral costs, loss of support, and related claims.

Lean on family, friends, and Long Beach community support resources during this difficult time. Compassionate assistance can help you navigate the overwhelming days ahead.

If you have any concerns about navigating the legal process surrounding this incident, call 866-883-4318 to speak with a lawyer.
