Las Vegas, NV (June 14, 2024) A tragic killing of a man has turned into a chaotic situation. A woman named Rachel Terranova, 27, is accused of a hit-and-run on the 215 Beltway in Vegas.
Police received a call on April 28 about a dead man located near the Far Hills offramp. They learned that this man was Darrel Pingleton, a 35-year-old who was walking when he was struck by a Honda Civic. Reports say they discovered he had been killed around 11:45 p.m. the previous evening. Police found pieces of the front of a Honda Civic nearby, and began searching for a vehicle with damage.
On May 1, an auto repair worker in Pahrump–about one hour from Vegas–called police to tell them a customer dropped off a car that had blood on it. This led them straight to Terranova, who claimed she hit construction equipment that damaged her vehicle. It was determined there was no construction equipment on the road that night.
Upon inspection of the vehicle, hair was found on the outside of the windshield. There was also human blood on the bumper. The grim discoveries continued to add up.
Police investigated Terranova’s phone, finding that she searched the web for news of the crash. She also apparently texted people telling them that something fell out of a truck and hit her car.
The most recent update is that a judge released Terranova with electronic monitoring while she awaits a preliminary hearing on August 5.
