Pasadena, CA (June 17, 2024) A tragic accident took place in Pasedena on Thursday night, leaving a community grieving. 57-year-old Cervando Velasquez was on foot when he was struck during a multi-vehicle collision on the 134 Freeway. The fatal accident occurred at approximately 10:13 p.m. on June 13th, not far from the 2 Freeway, near Glendale, according to reports.

Darkness had settled over the city of Pasadena on Thursday night as 57-year-old Cervando Velasquez was on foot on the 134 Freeway as vehicles passed. Suddenly, for reasons still under investigation, three vehicles collided on the freeway near the pedestrian. Unfortunately, Velasquez was struck during the multi-vehicle collision, according to reports. The impact threw him several feet into the air and he landed in the eastbound lanes of the freeway.

The California Highway Patrol quickly arrived at the scene and found the three vehicles with heavy damage on the freeway. They also discovered the pedestrian lying on the ground in the middle of the eastbound lanes of traffic. Officers ran to give emergency care to the pedestrian, but sadly, they discovered that there was nothing they could do. 57-year-old Velasquez had been killed in the accident and, with heavy hearts, officials pronounced him dead at the scene. They gently placed a tarp over his body and called the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner to come to the scene.

Police officers investigated the scene following the collision and are diligently working to uncover what happened that morning on the 134 Freeway in Pasadena. They are also trying to piece together who was at fault in this multi-vehicle accident that claimed a pedestrian’s life. Tow trucks were called to remove the damaged vehicles from the freeway and to also haul off large pieces of debris that were left behind from the accident. Crews worked to sweep up glass and small pieces of debris as quickly as they could.
