Las Vegas, NV (May 9th, 2024) The southwest Las Vegas Valley was left in shock on Wednesday afternoon, following an accident that left a 17-year-old in serious condition. The pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Quarterhorse Lane and Mountains Edge Parkway just after 12:30 p.m., according to reports.

A 17-year-old was walking on early Wednesday afternoon when they were suddenly struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Quarterhorse Lane and Moutains Edge Parkway. The force from the impact knocked the teenager to the ground, officers said. They remained on the ground with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle stopped and remained at the scene as well, following the accident. No details have been released at this time and officers are still trying to figure out exactly what happened.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene, just west of Fort Apache Road, and found the pedestrian on the ground. Paramedics rushed to the teenager’s side and carefully placed them on a stretcher before loading them into an ambulance and rushing them to UMC Trauma in critical condition. Officers later said that although the teenager sustained serious injuries, they are not considered life-threatening and the pedestrian is expected to make a full recovery.

Officers had to close the intersection closest to Tyrone Thompson Elementary School. The Clark County School District police officers are working with LVMPD to investigate this accident. Officers spoke with the driver of the vehicle involved as well as witnesses and gathered evidence at the scene. They are determined to figure out what exactly caused this pedestrian versus vehicle collision in a Las Vegas intersection.
