Gonzales, CA (September 21, 2023) A 12-year-old was hit by an SUV and injured on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Gonzales Police Department. The accident happened shortly after 3:00 p.m.

The accident happened in a crosswalk at the intersection of Fifth Street and the Highway 101 overpass. The 12-year-old began crossing in the crosswalk and was struck by an SUV. The driver said they didn’t see the child.
The 12-year-old sustained moderate injuries in the collision. They were airlifted by Cal Star to a local hospital for treatment. Police officers reported that the child was conscious and responsive to emergency personnel.
They also stated that this accident is still under investigation.
