Fresno, CA (September 1, 2023) A 12-year-old girl was hit by a truck while walking home from school on Thursday, August 31, 2o23. The Fresno Police Department received the call around 4:10 p.m.

The Fresno Police Department said the girl was walking home from school, when she was hit by a tuck at the intersection of West Avenue and Weldon Avenue in Fresno. The truck was driving south on West Avenue and didn’t see the girl until it was too late, according to police. The girl was using the crosswalk; when the driver tried to avoid her but it was too late. The truck hit the 12-year-old girl in the intersection.
Emergency crews took the girl to a local hospital for treatment of injuries she sustained in the collision. The Fresno Police Department said the girl was conscious and alert at the scene.
Officers do not believe the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.
