San Francisco, CA (August 5, 2023) A person was hit by a Caltrain on Friday night and sustained fatal injuries. Caltrain said this is their 7th fatality of the year.

The pedestrian was near Tunnel 4 between 22nd Street and Bayshore Station in San Francisco at approximately 7:30 p.m. The pedestrian didn’t move and was struck by the train, which couldn’t stop in time.
No one on the train was injured, but they were shuttled by MINI from Fourth Street and King Street to Bayshore Station so the train tracks could be cleared. The cleanup was finished by 10:30 p.m. but an investigation is still being conducted.
