Pleasanton, CA (July 21, 2024) A multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 580 in Pleasanton left a motorcyclist injured on Friday afternoon, July 19th. Officers reported that the multi-vehicle collision took place just before 1:00 p.m. on the 19th of July, near the Hacienda Drive off-ramp.

Five vehicles headed along Interstate 580 in Pleasanton on Friday afternoon, just as they had done several times before. Suddenly, the five vehicles collided. The reason for this collision is still unknown, according to reports. Reports indicated that it involved a motorcycle, a Toyota Camry and three other vehicles. The damaged vehicles blocked the highway and caused major traffic delays.

Officers arrived to the scene and found the damaged motorcycle on the ground and four other vehicles, all with damage. The vehicles and the debris nearly covered the entire stretch of roadway, reports indicated. Officers began going from vehicle to vehicle to determine if anyone had been injured, starting with the motorcycle. The motorcyclist was on the ground with serious injuries, officers reported. Paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital, via ambulance, to receive treatment. The extent of the rider’s injuries is still unknown.

Detectives at the scene gathered evidence and are working to determine what caused this five-vehicle accident on Interstate 580. They are also working to figure out who was at fault for this accident. Tow trucks were called to the scene to remove the motorcycle and other vehicles that had been damaged. Crews worked to clean up the debris that had been left behind so motorists could continue along that stretch of highway, reports indicated.
