Bakersfield, CA (August 21, 2024) A motorcycle collided with another vehicle in Bakersfield on Tuesday, August 20th, 2024, leaving the motorcyclist with serious injuries. The accident took place on the Edison Highway, near Sterling Road, right around 5:00 p.m.

The motorcyclist was riding along Edison Highway in Bakersfield on Tuesday evening in Kern County. Not far from Sterling Road, and for reasons that are still unknown, the motorcycle collided with a maroon vehicle. The impact sent the rider flying off the motorcycle and landing hard on the ground, reports indicated. Debris was also tossed all over the roadway during the accident. Officers wit the CHP reported that this caused traffic hazards on Edison Highway.

The California Highway Patrol were the first to arrive at the scene. Upon arrival, they found the motorcyclist lying on the ground, obviously injured. They hurried to the rider’s side, ready to give them life-saving treatment, if necessary. The rider was conscious and told officers they could move. They then stood to their feet. Paramedics took the motorcyclist to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, according to reports.

Officers gathered evidence at the scene and took statements from those involved, as well as witnesses. They are working to uncover what exactly happened on Edison Highway that evening. They are also determined to learn who was at fault for this collision in Bakersfield. It took crews a while to remove all of the glass and debris from the highway, according to reports from the scene. The motorcycle was hauled away and the roadway was eventually reopened.
