San Diego, CA (August 11, 2024) A horrible motorcycle collision occurred in San Diego on Saturday morning, August 10th, just before 1:00 a.m. The accident claimed a man’s life and left a woman with serious injuries, including the loss of her leg, according to reports. It happened around 12:45 a.m., following a traffic stop on Imperial Avenue.
A 25-year-old man was driving a 2019 Harley Davidson motorcycle with a woman riding as a passenger. They headed along Imperial Avenue in San Diego when officers pulled them over for a traffic violation at 6200 Imperial Avenue. Officers with the San Diego Police Department learned that the man operating the motorcycle had a felony arrested warrant. Officers tried to arrest the suspect, but he sped away on the motorcycle. Officers immediately began pursuing them.
The motorcycle headed west on Imperial Ave. at a high rate of speed, officers reported. He didn’t stop until it slammed into two parked vehicles at 5200 Imperial Avenue. The man was thrown from the motorcycle and landed on the roadway several feet from the bike. The woman was seriously injured in the accident, but was found alive, officers reported.

Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and found the man unresponsive. They did everything they could but it was determined that the man had been killed in the collision. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to reports. The woman was found with critical injuries, including a severed leg. Paramedics arrived quickly and rushed the woman to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Officers do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in this collision. The San Diego Police Department is leading this investigation and asking anyone with information to contact them at 888-58-8477. The motorcycle was hauled from the scene, following the accident.
