Orange, CA (September 10, 2024) A tragic motorcycle accident occurred in Orange on Friday afternoon, September 6th, 2024, claiming one person’s life. Another was critically injured in the accident between the motorcycle and another vehicle, according to reports. It happened at the intersection of Yorba Street and East Chapman Avenue at approximately 2:00 p.m.
Initial reports indicated that two people were riding on a motorcycle, heading east on Chapman Avenue on Friday afternoon in Orange. At the same time, a Hyundai Tucson SUV was heading west and attempted to turn south into a parking lot. As the SUV turned, it hit the motorcycle. The two people on the motorcycle were thrown from the bike, and landed hard on the roadway. Officers reported that the driver of the SUV immediately stopped and waited for officials to arrive at the scene.
The Orange Police Department arrived at the scene to find the two people on the ground, obviously injured. The motorcycle was dented and laid on the roadway. Paramedics rushed to the victims’ sides and found one of them with fatal injuries, according to reports. Sadly, officials pronounced the biker dead at the scene. The second person on the bike had survived the collision, but had sustained life-threatening injuries. The victim was rushed to a local hospital, via ambulance, to receive emergency care.
Officers questioned the SUV driver, as well as witnesses, and gathered evidence at the scene. They are working to determine what exactly happened in the 2700 block of East Chapman Avenue. Detective Rocha with the Orange Police Department is heading this investigation into this fatal accident.
