Oroville, CA (August 27, 2023) Michael Murphy, 40, was killed on Thursday when his motorcycle collided with a Jeep, according to the Oroville Police Department. It happened near Fallbrook Avenue and Greenville Street around 7:57 p.m.

Authorities said the Jeep was traveling south on Fallbrook Avenue while Murphy was traveling east on Greenville Street. Murphy didn’t stop at a stop sign and the Jeep couldn’t stop in time to avoid hitting him. Upon arrival at the scene, police officers found Murphy laying on the east shoulder of Fallbrook Avenue. Emergency personnel used life-saving measures on Murphy, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Oroville Police Department said that drugs and alcohol do not seem to be a factor in this collision. The accident is being investigated.
