Fresno, CA (September 12, 2024) Tragedy struck the city of Fresno on Tuesday afternoon, September 10th, 2024. 16-year-old Austin Ly was killed in a motorcycle collision at the intersection of  Tulare Avenue and Fowler Avenue. The accident happened at approximately 4:00 p.m. as the teen was heading home from Clovis East High School.

Austin Ly, 16, was riding his motorcycle along the streets of Fresno on Tuesday afternoon, as he approached the intersection of Tulare Avenue and Fowler Avenue. At approximately 4:00 p.m., the teen rode through the intersection on a red light, officers reported. Another vehicle was heading through the intersection on a green light and hit Ly as it attempted to turn onto Fowler Avenue. The force from the impact ejected Ly from the motorcycle, according to reports. He landed several feet away and the motorcycle laid in a dented heap on the ground.

Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and found the teen on the ground with life-threatening injuries. Paramedics rushed Ly to a hospital in the area to receive emergency treatment. Sadly, the teenager’s injuries were too severe and he succumbed to them. 16-year-old Austin Ly was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to reports.

Officers reported that the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities during their investigation. They are trying to understand why Ly ran a red light that afternoon.
