North Las Vegas, NV (June 12, 2024) A suspected drunk driver caused a multi-vehicle collision on Wednesday morning, June 12th. The accident left two people with significant injuries, officers reported. The three-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Pecos Road and Lake Mead Boulevard in North Las Vegas, right around 5:40 a.m.

A white Acura sedan was headed east on Last Mead Boulevard as it approached a red light. Officers reported that instead of stopping at the red light, the driver of the Acura didn’t even slow down and continued through the intersection on the red light. A black Ford sedan was on Pecos Road, headed south on a green light. The two vehicles collided in the intersection, according to reports. The impact sent both vehicles into the northbound lanes of the intersection, where they hit a GMC pickup truck.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the three vehicles in the middle of the intersection, blocking traffic. Officers found the driver of the Ford sedan as well as the passenger, injured. Paramedics carefully loaded the victims into an ambulance and took them to UMC Trauma for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers didn’t say if anyone else was injured in this collision, however, they did report that the female driver of the Acura showed signs of intoxication. Officers ended up arresting the female Acura driver who now faces DUI-related charges, according to reports.

The intersection was closed until around 7:00 a.m. as detectives investigated the scene. Officers called for a tow truck to come and remove at least one of the vehicles following the investigation. Crews worked as quickly as they could to remove glass and debris from the intersection before the intersection could be reopened to motorists.
