Seal Beach, CA (March 5, 2024) A senseless DUI collision claimed the life of 38-year-old Jennifer Patricia Lopez De Catalan on Monday morning in Seal Beach. It happened right at 2:00 a.m. at the intersection of North Gate Road and Seal Beach Boulevard. The female passenger was thrown from the vehicle and sadly, did not survive, authorities said.
It was the middle of the night as 39-year-old Victor Alfonso Campos Carranza, a Los Angeles resident, got behind the wheel while intoxicated. He crashed his vehicle at the intersection of North Gate Road and Seal Beach Boulevard right at 2:00 a.m., according to police officers.

The early morning darkness was pierced by flashing lights as sirens wailed, approaching the accident. The headlights of emergency vehicles illuminated the crashed vehicle as emergency personnel jumped out and ran to help anyone in need. The Seal Beach Police Department found that the passenger, identified as De Catalan, had been thrown from the vehicle during the collision. Paramedics rushed to the woman’s side, but found her unresponsive. Sadly, De Catalan was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, Carranza, was taken via ambulance to a local hospital to receive treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. It was determined that Carranza had been driving under the influence at the time of the deadly collision, officers reported. He was later arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail on charges of felony DUI causing bodily injury as well as gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
