Las Vegas, NV (May 6, 2024) A senseless accident claimed a person’s life in Las Vegas just after midnight on Monday, May 6th, leaving a community saddened. The fatal collision occurred shortly after midnight at the intersection of East Erie Avenue and Bermuda Road, according to reports. The driver responsible, 30-year-old Katir Lucier-Fant was arrested following the collision.
Las Vegas streets were lit up by street lights and headlights and taillights blazed the way for drivers who were out after midnight. A 31-year-old Las Vegas resident was driving his 2003 Lexus sedan on Bermuda Road, heading south, shortly after midnight. A 2008 Mercedes-Benz, driven by 30-year-old Lucier-Fant, was also heading south on Bermuda Road. She was speeding and didn’t slow down when she approached the Lexus. Instead, at approximately 12:25 a.m., she slammed into the back of the vehicle at a high speed.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department quickly arrived at the scene and found the Lexus with serious back end damage and the Mercedes-Benz with front end damage. Debris and glass had been tossed in all directions and covered the ground around the accident. Paramedics found both drivers with injuries. The driver of the Lexus had sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a local hospital. The medical staff quickly worked to save his life, but sadly, his injuries were too severe and he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The driver of the Mercedes-Benz, later identified as Lucier-Fant, was also injured and taken to a hospital for treatment. Officers at the scene said that the 30-year-old driver exhibited signs of intoxication and was arrested once the hospital released her. She was booked into the Clark County Detention Center and faces charges of driving without a valid driver’s license, DUI resulting in death and reckless driving resulting in death or serious bodily harm. Her bail has been set at $6,ooo, officers reported.
