Valencia, CA (November 5, 2023) Several pedestrians were injured early Sunday morning when a vehicle drove onto a Valencia sidewalk and struck them. The driver then drove away from the scene, but authorities said they left behind something very important. Investigators reported that the driver left behind a key piece of evidence: the vehicles bumper with the license plate still attached.
The story of this accident begins with a large group of pedestrians happily congregating on a sidewalk in Valencia, Santa Clarita. It was Sunday morning, November 5th, not quite 2:00 a.m., yet, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Office. People stood on the sidewalk on Town Center Drive, laughing and talking with no idea what was about to happen.

There was footage of the accident from a local security camera. The footage shows a whit SUV driving too fast and unsafely down the road before it jumps onto the curb and onto the sidewalk full of pedestrians. The video shows people running and trying to dodge the vehicle as it drives onto the sidewalk. The vehicle struck several people, then the driver slammed the vehicle into reverse, backed up and sped away from the scene.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found at least six people with injuries from the hit-and-run collision. Miraculously, no one sustained serious or life-threatening injuries in this crash.
Investigators later reported that the evidence left at the scene allowed them to quickly find the suspects. Two women were taken into custody on suspicion of driving while under the influence.
