Tehama County, CA (October 16, 2024) A senseless DUI collision occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Tehama County, claiming one person’s life. It was just before 2:00 p.m. when the accident occurred on Highway 99, near Tehama Vina Road. Three vehicles were involved in this devastating accident. One person lost their life and another was seriously injured.
Andre Tucker, 43, was heading south on Highway 99 in a 1997 Ford Expedition, at a high rate of speed on Tuesday afternoon. At approximately 1:48 p.m., Tucker lost control of his Ford and veered into oncoming traffic in the northbound lane. He struck a 2015 Honda Accord, driven by a 56-year-old woman, which sent his Ford into the path of a 2012 Toyota Prius. A 22-year-old woman from Chico was driving the Prius. She had no time to react and the two vehicles collided, head-on.
The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found the three vehicles with major damage sitting in the middle of the highway. Officers hurried to the vehicles and, unfortunately, found the driver of the Prius with fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene and officers called for a coroner. The driver of the Honda was found with serious injuries and was taken to Enloe Health, via ambulance, to receive medical attention.

Officers questioned Tucker at the scene and determined that he was intoxicated. He was sent to a Enloe Hospital to receive treatment for injuries he sustained in the accident. Once he was released, officers arrested him and booked him into Tehama County Jail. He faces several charges including DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
