Las Vegas, NV (June 25, 2024) A tragic accident occurred in West Las Vegas on Monday morning. Two vehicles were speeding when one of the drivers lost control, according to reports. The vehicle left the road at a high rate of speed and overturned, leaving one with serious injuries and the other with fatal injuries. It happened on S. Jones, near W. Sahara Avenue at approximately 2:19 a.m. The mother of both drivers (they were half-brothers) has stated that the men were not racing, but were driving recklessly.

It was the middle of the night in Las Vegas as the sound of engines revving and tires squealing filled the darkness. A Maserati, driven by 36-year-old Kashmir Newell, sped along S. Jones. A 24-year-old passenger was also in the vehicle. His brother, 31, was in a Dodge Challenger with a 27-year-old passenger, reports indicated. The two vehicles were headed north.

As the vehicles passed the intersection of W. Sahara Avenue, the driver of the Dodge lost control. He left the roadway at a high speed and crashed into several things before the car rolled. It continued to roll multiple times before it finally came to a stop, according to reports.

Emergency crews arrived and hurried to the Dodge, where they found the driver and the passenger in bad shape. Both had sustained serious injuries in the accident. Paramedics quickly loaded the two victims into an ambulance and rushed them to UMC Trauma. Unfortunately, the driver passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital. With heavy hearts, they pronounced him dead at the hospital. The passenger remains hospitalized with major injuries.

Update: The deceased man’s name was Phalon Young. The passenger who sustained major injuries in Young’s car is his wife, 27-year-old Stacie Young.

The driver of the other vehicle stopped at the scene and cooperated with police officers. Newell has been accused of reckless driving resulting in death and substantial bodily harm, officers reported. He was arrested at the scene.

Our team extends heartfelt sympathies to the family of the Youngs. We know this is a difficult time as you mourn the sudden and unexpected loss of your loved ones. We have an amazing team of legal professionals ready to offer guidance and support during this difficult time.
