Red Bluff, CA (July 13, 2024) A man lost his life on Friday, July 12th, following a two-vehicle collision in Red Bluff. The accident occurred right around 1:30 p.m. on South Jackson Street, reports indicated. It wasn’t too far from Snow Mountain Way and the drivers of both vehicles had to be rescued via Jaws of Life, reports indicated.
It was Friday afternoon in Red Bluff, California, as motorists drove along South Jackson Road. Among the traveling vehicles was a Honda SUV, driven by a 34-year-old man, and a 2017 Ford Escape. The Ford, driven by an 18-year-old man, was heading south and the Honda was traveling north when, for reasons still unknown, the Ford swerved into the northbound lanes of traffic. The two vehicles collided, head-on, according to reports, at fairly high speeds.

The Red Bluff Police Department arrived at the scene and found the two vehicles in the middle of the roadway with major damage. They found that both drivers were trapped inside their vehicles and firefighters at the scene had to utilize the Jaws of Life to free the victims. The 18-year-old man, driving the Ford, was rushed to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Honda, however, was transported to the same hospital with life-threatening injuries. He succumbed to the injuries and was pronounced dead, officers reported.
Officers have gathered evidence and are investigating this collision to determine what exactly caused the Ford to cross over into oncoming traffic. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene, following the investigation, and crews worked as quickly as they could to remove the glass and debris from the roadway.
