San Mateo, CA (September 5, 2023) – A tragic wrong-way wreck on Highway 84 in San Mateo claimed two lives on Friday, September 1st. The accident occurred just after 5:00 p.m. near Peek-A-Boo Lane.
The cars involved in the accident included a white BMW and a gray Ford Taurus which were executing a blind turn at the time of the collision. One of the cars crossed the center line and they collided in the westbound lanes.

There were four passengers in the Ford Taurus who were all seriously injured. A male passenger of the Taurus was declared dead at the scene. The other three were taken to the hospital where one, a female passenger, sadly succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the BMW, an man from Australia, was unharmed. Authorities have ruled out drugs and alcohol as potential factors in their investigation of the wrong-way wreck on Highway 84.
