Adelanto, CA (April 26, 2024) A section of Highway 395 was closed, causing traffic to back up in both directions, following a collision in Adelanto. Two people were seriously injured in the crash, authorities said. It happened at approximately 12:22 p.m., near Auburn Avenue on Wednesday, April 24th.
A while 2005 Dodge Neon was driving along US Highway 395, when it was hit by a pickup truck pulling a double-decker car hauler trailer. The Dodge Neon was completely destroyed, officers said. The back end was ripped from the vehicle, along with tires, and the front end was smashed and damaged as well. The Neon had at least four occupants and two of those occupants sustained life-threatening injuries.
San Bernardino County Fire send firefighters to the scene. They found the Dodge Neon, completely destroyed, in the middle of the highway. The pickup and trailer were pulled over on the side of the road. The driver of the pickup was unharmed and cooperated with officers at the scene. Meanwhile, two of the occupants in the Dodge were seriously injured. Paramedics rushed them to a local hospital, via ambulance, to receive treatment.
Officers had to close Highway 395 in Adelanto for at least two hours so they could investigate the accident and clean the debris from the highway. A tow truck was also called to remove the wrecked Dodge from the roadway. Investigators are working to determine what caused this collision and who was at fault.
