Perris, CA (April 9, 2024) A chain reaction collision occurred on Interstate 215 in Perris on Monday, April 8th. The California Highway Patrol received the call at approximately 4:12 p.m. and headed to the scene on I-215 at Highway 74. Three people sustained injuries in this multi-vehicle collision, according to officers.

The accident began in the fast lane of Interstate 215, officers reported. The impact from the initial collision forced vehicles into other lanes where they struck other vehicles. Lane no. 2 of the interstate was completely blocked and one of the vehicles involved came to a stop on its roof, facing the wrong direction. The entire scene was a bit chaotic as traffic continued to slowly move around the wrecked vehicles and debris.

The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene, along with the Riverside County Fire Department, and found six vehicles that had been involved in the collision. Three of the vehicles were completely destroyed in the accident. Paramedics went from vehicle to vehicle helping anyone who was injured. One person in the overturned vehicle was trapped and firefighters had to use specialized tools to get them out of the wreckage. Thankfully, they found that the occupant had only moderate injuries. Two others were found with non-life-threatening injuries as well. All three were transported to a local hospital, via ambulance, to receive medical treatment.

Investigators worked the scene, looking for evidence and speaking to witnesses as well as those involved. They are determined to discover what caused this chain of reaction accident on Interstate 215 in Perris. They are also determined to learn who was at fault. Officers requested tow trucks to come and remove three of the vehicles from the scene and crews cleared the roadway of debris and glass.
