Los Angeles, CA (September 10, 2023) A crash involving an ambulance occurred after midnight on Sunday, September 10, 2023, in Los Angeles. Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson, Brian Humphrey, said a pickup crashed into the ambulance around 12:35 a.m.
The Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedic Rescue Ambulance was responding to a medical emergency when it was broadsided by a pickup. The accident occurred at the intersection of San Fernando Road and Van Nuys Boulevard. After hitting the ambulance, the pickup then crashed into a utility pole.

There were two men in the pickup and both became trapped following the collision. They were freed by a team of Los Angeles Fire Department responders and taken to a regional trauma center. Both men were in critical condition.
The two paramedics who were in the ambulance at the time of the collision suffered minor to moderate injuries. They were able to free themselves from the wreckage of the collision and were taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for non-serious injuries.
