Norco, CA (September 25, 2024) A series of collisions occurred on early Sunday morning, September 22nd, 2024, leading to one person’s death. The collisions all involved a horse trailer, officers reported, and ended with a vehicle hitting the horse. The accident claimed the life of a 25-year-old man riding in the front passenger seat of a vehicle. It all happened in Norco, California, around 2:00 a.m. on I-15.
A Toyota Tacoma pickup up truck was traveling along northbound Interstate 15, hauling a horse trailer. For reasons that remain unknown, the driver lost control of the pickup truck and slammed into a guardrail on the interstate. The impact ripped the horse trailer open, allowing the horse to run free on the freeway. A semi-truck then crashed into the horse trailer, causing even more chaos on the interstate, officers reported. The horse began walking across the freeway and stepped into the path of a black Honda Accord. The vehicle barely hit the horse before a gray Honda Accord collided, head-on, with the horse. The impact sent the horse over the hood where it smashed through the windshield, hitting the front seat passenger.
Emergency crews arrived quickly at the scene and found the four damaged vehicles as well as the horse trailer and the horse, which had been killed in the accident. They hurried to the vehicles to see if anyone had been injured in the accident. They found the passenger of the gray Honda Accord deceased and, sadly, pronounced him dead at the scene. The driver of the Honda sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to reports.
