The collision occurred just before 6:00 a.m. on Interstate 5 in Oceanside. Officers stated that the accident occurred in the northbound lanes, near the Aliso Creek rest area along the interstate.
A black BMW was heading north on Interstate 5 as the sun slowly began to rise over Oceanside. At approximately 5:50 a.m., the driver of the BMW lost control of the vehicle. It moved from the far right lane of the freeway to the far left lane, at a high rate of speed, reports indicated. The BMW then slammed into the center divider on the freeway. The impact sent the vehicle rolling several times, officers reported. The vehicle finally came to a dramatic stop in the middle of the freeway. As the dust settled, sirens could be heard in the distance.
