Pacoima, CA (July 5, 2024)
On July 3, a crash on the 118 Freeway caused a tragic fatality.
At about 4:40 p.m., a vehicle traveling along the road overturned for unknown reasons. As it rolled, it flipped over the barrier and onto a street below the freeway. It finally stopped on a road in the 10900 block of North Haddon Avenue in Pacoima.
When the crash occurred, either the driver or a passenger was ejected from the car. Another person was trapped in the crushed vehicle and had to be extracted by the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The person who was ejected was rushed to a hospital with bad injuries. Their current condition has not been made available. The person who was trapped in the vehicle, 33-year-old Ricardo Soto, was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation into this single-vehicle collision is ongoing.
