Butte County, CA (May 10, 2024) An early morning accident occurred on Friday, May 10th, on the Richvale Highway in Butte County. Two vehicles collided, leaving one person with serious injuries, officers reported. The collision happened west of Highway 99/State Route 162, just before 7:00 a.m.

An older-model, blue Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling along the Richvale Highway in Butte County. At the same time, a white Ford F-150 was also headed down the highway. Suddenly, and for reasons still unknown, the two pickups collided in the roadway. The force from the collision sent both vehicles into the ditch, just before 7:00 a.m, reports indicated. The sounds of metal colliding and tired squealing were suddenly replaced with silence as the two vehicles came to a stop in the ditch on the side of the highway.

The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found the two pickups in the ditch, both with damage from the accident. They discovered one person in critical condition and began performing CPR on the victim. Once paramedics arrived, they took over and rushed the person to a local hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries. It is unknown at this time if anyone else was injured or taken to a hospital, according to reports.

Investigators searched the scene and gathered evidence. They also took statements at the scene from witnesses and those involved in the collision. They are determined to figure out what exactly happened on the Richvale Highway to cause this accident. They also hope to determine who was at fault. Officers called for tow trucks to come to the scene and pull both for the vehicles from the ditch. Finally, crews worked quickly to clean the debris from the roadway so traffic on the Richvale Highway could resume as usual.
